Knitting Loves Crochet: 22 Stylish Designs to Hook Up Your Knitting with a Touch of Crochet

[audiobook] Knitting Loves Crochet: 22 Stylish Designs to Hook Up Your Knitting with a Touch of Crochet by Candi Jensen at Arts-Photography

Description

Purchased by the El Cajon Valley Land Company in 1886; Lakeside began as a small hamlet along the banks of the San Diego River. Home to the only natural lake in San Diego County; Lakeside offered visitors throughout the century a scenic backdrop for boating; fishing; hunting; riding; and hiking. Captured here in over 200 vintage images is the history of this town located just 25 miles east of San Diego. After the San Diego Mission was established in 1769; the Padres explored the backcountry; seeking grazing lands for their livestock. Following the San Diego River upstream they came to a broad valley; which they named El Cajon; "the box." In 1886; 6;600 acres were sold to the El Cajon Land Company for the Lakeside town site and a large inn was built as a resort. Due in large part to the trains coming through Lakeside in 1889; Lakeside had become a thriving community by the turn of the century.

Despite the three most helpful reviews all containing negatives about the book. I decided I would order it anyway. Even if I made no patterns from the book. I felt that looking at photograpghs of how another person combined two of my hobbies into projects incorporating both would inspire me to try the same on my own. I am not disappointed in the book at all. Keeping in mind that I am an intermediate beginner knitter and an advanced level crocheter (though I do both at turtle speeds) . I wear a size 2X. I am over sixty. and have no dogs or grandchildren. why am I so pleased? The knitting is within my skill level. This is good. The book will inspire me to take a basic knitting pattern and embellish it with crochet and make something stylish and today for an over sixty woman who loves fashion but cannot afford the expensive fashions in stores where I lived (Silicon Valley in California) that are catering to internet millionaires. I also do not have an aversion to granny squares because I never had a granny square lunch pail. Though my mom was and is creative she was a strictly brown bag lunch mom. When in high school my mom bought my sister and I granny square ponchos in unusual colors and we loved them and got many compliments (this was the time of the heyday of the Haight Ashbury district in San Francisco) so fond memories of an interesting time are associated with granny squares in my mind. I never thought of combining them with my beginner knitting skills so this was inspiring. Lastly I have the mathematical ability and knowledge from sewing clothing for myself in junior and senior high school from patterns on how to alter garments properly to fit larger or smaller sizes. It is amazing how many different looking school dresses one could make from one simple sewing pattern if one was imaginative. The few patterns I worked from would be held together by scotch tape from being reused in different ways so often. This is that kind of a book. If you do everything explicitly by the rules. bypass this book. If you are inspired by taking easy pieces and putting them together in different ways. if you both knit and crochet. even at a beginner level. give this book a try to inspire you to explore new ideas. Rigid people stay away. Flexible people come try the ideas demonstrated in this book in your OWN projects.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Interesting and FunBy Pat OSaw this book first at the library and seeing all the interesting things to be made in it. decided to buy it. Very pleased with not only the designs but the instructions. Made hand-warmers first and more of the other items to come. Fun working with the hand-warmer pattern. and also very easy. Although I had done projects in both knit and crochet before. enjoyed seeing the many more possibilities found in this book.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Nothing ExcitingBy LindaThis book had very little information that was usedful to me. It is mainly about adding trims - either crocheted to knitted objects. or knitted to crocheted objects. There mere mitts. hats. afghans. scarves. and sweaters. but most of the projects were unexciting. Anyone who can both knit and crochet would have probably already thought of adding crocheted trim to projects theyve knitted. One of the best projects is the tank top shown on the cover. The only other interesting project was a drop stitch scarf that alternated knitted sections and crocheted motifs (similar to granny squares. but nicer). The crocheted flowers that were sewn to knitted items were also uninspiring. You can get many more interesting patterns on-line for free.
