Knives in Hens (Modern Classics)

[ebooks] Knives in Hens (Modern Classics) by David Harrower at Arts-Photography

Description

As early as the 1840s; playwrights incorporated evolutionary theory into their work; reacting to a scientific advancement that changed the world. This book follows evolutionary theory in mainstream European and American drama and other theatrical entertainments; including circus; pantomime; and the “missing linkrdquo; show. It writes female playwrights into the theatrical record; as they explored biological determinism; gender essentialism; the maternal instinct; and the “cult of motherhoodrdquo; in their work.

So many of the names and places mentioned were familiar to me and brought back many memories. The music of Willie; Waylon; Kris and so many greats were playing in and around Austin in the early 70s when we were newly married. We remembered Janis at Threadgills and performances at the Broken Spoke; Big Gs; and Armadillo World Headquarters. This book will be enjoyed by all who remember the music and the outlaws who changed things and brought it to us. Great for memories; smiles; and sadness at the ones who fell by the wayside for whatever reason; but elation at the lucky talents who persevered and made it to the top.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful.
