The Coldwater area was first settled on the historic Sauk Trail in the 1830s. Coldwater became a village in 1837; and after the arrival of the railroads in the 1850s; it became a city in 1861. Majestic homes and buildings were constructed; churches and schools were established; and a vibrant community began to take shape. The 1900s brought more growth and challenges; as residents encountered the Great Depression; World War II; and subsequent eras of transition; renewal; and expansion. This book showcases a rare collection of historic images to document Coldwaters progress and development throughout the 20th century.

An historic and informative readBy Alan BrodieI spent a lot of childhood summers on Lake Winnipesaukee and have some very fond memories from those days. I was hoping this book would take me back to rediscover something I had lost. It really didnt do that. but it is a good book nonetheless. It focuses on the history of the area around the lake; how the various communities developed and so forth. Theres a lot of pictures. but also a lot of text. This is more than one of those books full of old pictures. If you want to learn about the history of the area surrounding the lake. this book has a lot to offer.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful.
