One evening; Mr Ido arrives home from work to find his house surrounded by police and TV cameras. Inside; his wife and child are being held hostage by an escaped murderer. An otherwise normal day in an otherwise comfortable life is not ending how it should. But rather than play the victim and accept this terrible fate; Ido decides to take control and embarks upon an extraordinary mission of revenge. Set in Tokyo in 1974; this dark and unconventional satire asks what happens when the victim becomes the aggressor; the weak become powerful and the watcher becomes the watched.lsquo; As its supple mood shifts - from comedy; to tragedy; to eroticism - it exposes the sharp edge of cruelty that all these aesthetic modes share. It satirises the enjoyment of violence [and] walks that fetishistic line between pain and pleasure.rsquo; ndash; Time Out

Our PBS station had this DVD on the air about a month ago. Well what a shock. Not only are the poem/songs so inspiring and intimate. the singer (not your average) is unbelievably deep. He truly has a velvet voice. Perhaps it is my age that I can be very selective of the artists. but the musicians on this DVD are super great! I highly recommend this IF you like the sentimental. reflective and honest performer. I happen to. Put some history in your musical library.ALso see Leonard Cohen: A Remarkable Life1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. ExcellentBy Fotini VourlekisLeonard Cohen my favorite poet.music genius.humanitarian and fellow Greek in heart. His story wonderfully told .indeed a remarkable life !6 of 7 people found the following review helpful. Poorly proofed. A bit of a disappointment.By Margaret R. PeckLike other reviewers. I really wanted to like this book (I pre-ordered it so that I could have it upon release). I am sure that the best (and most beautiful) writing on Leonard Cohens life is his own. but as most of his writing is "semi" autobiographical. I hoped through this biography to learn more of the stories behind his words.Sadly. this book is so poorly proofed that it is difficult to read. I would not recommend it except for someone who wants a "complete" collection of works on Cohen.
