That said; the book is very revealing regarding her personal character. She was as lovely and unassuming off stage/screen as she was on. Far from the typical narcissistic celebrities that the spotlight normally generates. The book is easy to read with lots of insight into her relationships - particularly with her husband Bob Fosse. The author may give too much information; such as a tendency to report what clothes she wore on each occasion. But if you get past that the book is a fun and easy read.2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Great book for a Gwen Verdon fan.By LakeladyjakeWas amazed with the detailed information about a fabulous Broadway; movie and TV star. Everything Ive ever read about Ms. Verdon pictured her as a really nice person. As a teen; I wrote her 2 letters while she was starring on Broadway in "Redhead"; and she answered each one using her personal stationary. I got to meet her two times - about 20 years apart and she was gracious both times. I am very pleased with the amount of information that lets you know just how amazing Ms. Verdon was. Great job Mr. Shelley.3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. TOO MUCH WARDROBE; NOT ENOUGH GWEN.By CustomerI KNEW AND WORKED WITH GWEN AND SHE WAS NOT ONLY AN EXCEPTIONALLY TALENTED DANCER; BUT A WONDERFUL AND GIVING PERSON. DEFINITELY UNDER APPRECIATED. THE BIO HOWEVER SPENT SO MUCH TIME DESCRIBING HER CLOTHING AND WHEN SHE WORE WHAT.THAT I FELT THAT SHE WAS TRYING TO STRETCH THE BOOK. FOR INSTANCE I NEVER SAW ANY MENTION OF NICOLES BIRTH. SHE WAS NOT MENTIONED UNTIL SHE WAS TWO. I WS SO HAPPY TO SEE THAT GWEN WAS FINALLY BEING RECOGNIZED WHEN I BOUGHT THE BOOK; BUT FELT THAT IT FELL SHORT OF MY EXPECTATIONS; BUT AT LEAST IT WAS WRITTEN.
