The translation was excellent and the photos lent to its emotional impact. I have passed this book on and am considering buying it again.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. HauntingBy Kilgore TroutIts incomprehensible that there is a whole sector of society that exists in the shadows. Japan is a wealthy country; both in material goods and traditions. It is structured; there is a supposed to be a place for everyone. A culture that encouraged kamikaze missions for the greater good will never understand why the evaporated has chosen to walk away from it all.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Interesting Overview; Poor AnalysisBy SabrinaThis book provides an overview of a very interesting topic; but fails to delve deeply into the motivations from eschewing family and diving into the shadows of society. I would have greatly appreciated a more in-depth analysis of the topic.(The photography in the book is very powerful; though.)
