Based on unprecedented research in Cuba; the direct testimony of scores of Cuban musicians; and the authors unique experience as a prominent jazz musician; Cubano Be; Cubano Bop is destined to take its place among the classics of jazz history. The work pays tribute not only to a distinguished lineage of Cuban jazz musicians and composers; but also to the rich musical exchanges between Cuban and American jazz throughout the twentieth century. The work begins with the first encounters between Cuban music and jazz around the turn of the last century. Acosta writes about the presence of Cuban musicians in New Orleans and the ldquo;Spanish tingerdquo; in early jazz from the city; the formation and spread of the first jazz ensembles in Cuba; the big bands of the thirties; and the inception of ldquo;Latin jazz.rdquo; He explores the evolution of Bebop; Feeling; and Mambo in the forties; leading to the explosion of Cubop or Afro-Cuban jazz and the innovations of the legendary musicians and composers Machito; Mario Bauzaacute;; Dizzy Gillespie; and Chano Pozo. The work concludes with a new generation of Cuban jazz artists; including the Grammy award-winning musicians and composers Chucho Valdeacute;s and Paquito Drsquo;Rivera.

These are fundamental hats well executed with very clearly written instructions. Soboti makes routine hats look good. No hat here is terribly difficult and all are modern and wearable. This is a good sized book with multiple clear photos of each hat. Dont look for anything advanced or challenging. My big misgiving for this book is that 7 out of the 14 hats are shown with gorgeous. magnificently made pompoms. They are even. color balanced and perfectly sized. They bring a lot of pizzazz to these hats. Problem is that there are no instructions anywhere in this book on how to make a pompom. Since this is a very basic hat book. why would you assume the user could make a perfect pompom on their own?I cant answer that. I am reducing my rating to 4 stars because the book should have included instructions ( even just once) on how to make a pompom.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful.
