The size of the book was smaller than expected and this meant the format reduced the impact of the subject. The text while seeking an academic status didnt provide any satisfying additional history. The achievement of the photographers and their photographers provides a valuable documentation of visual promotion and communication across the decades.4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. Thank you for rescuing so much of lost New YorkBy Christopher R. KerrIve lived in the NYC area for 30+ years and it drives me crazy that so much of the Citys amazing visual history has either been sacrificed by rapacious developers or bulldozed into oblivion. I know many of these images and was delighted to see many more that I had missed. The book is an act of love.4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. a coffe table book guests ask to borrow-By scott c grahamif youre a resident or like me a long time and frequent visitor to nyc youll enjoy seeing a few ads in the book that youve noticed before; or; noticing some for the first time; now that youve seen them in the book. In any event; its a great connection to a part of the city thats faded but still there if you know where to look.
