Mastering the Nikon D7200

[ebooks] Mastering the Nikon D7200 by Darrell Young in Arts-Photography

Description

Part of the Jewish Encounter seriesNovelist and critic Jonathan Wilson clears away the sentimental mists surrounding an artist whose career spanned two world wars; the Russian Revolution; the Holocaust; and the birth of the State of Israel. Marc Chagallrsquo;s work addresses these transforming events; but his ambivalence about his role as a Jewish artist adds an intriguing wrinkle to common assumptions about his life. Drawn to sacred subject matter; Chagall remains defiantly secular in outlook; determined to ldquo;narraterdquo; the miraculous and tragic events of the Jewish past; he frequently chooses Jesus as a symbol of martyrdom and sacrifice.Wilson brilliantly demonstrates how Marc Chagallrsquo;s life constitutes a grand canvas on which much of twentieth-century Jewish history is vividly portrayed. Chagall left Belorussia for Paris in 1910; at the dawn of modernism; looking back dreamily on the world he abandoned. After his marriage to Bella Rosenfeld in 1915; he moved to Petrograd; but eventually returned to Paris after a stint as a Soviet commissar for art. Fleeing Paris steps ahead of the Nazis; Chagall arrived in New York in 1941. Drawn to Israel; but not enough to live there; Chagall grappled endlessly with both a nostalgic attachment to a vanished past and the magnetic pull of an uninhibited secular present. Wilsonrsquo;s portrait of Chagall is altogether more historical; more political; and edgier than conventional wisdom would have us believendash;showing us how Chagall is the emblematic Jewish artist of the twentieth century.Visit nextbook.org/chagall for a virtual museum of Chagall images. From the Hardcover edition.

SchochGreat guide to the almost endless options and settings offered by the Nikon D7200. Some of the illustrations of subtle differences wrought by the various settings are of little value owing to limitations of the printing process.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. I have been a long time member at Nikonians and had read many good posts by Darrel and great reviews of his books. This certainty has helped shorten my learning curve with my D7200. The explanations are straight forward and easy to understand. His recommend setting explanations are concise and allow you sample them and decide for yourself. This is a must have in your library.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. A comprehensive user manual replacementBy hw_engineerIt doesnt take very many pages before you realize that Darrell writes books like these often. He has developed a style of conveying all of the essential information as quickly as possible while still providing some personal inputs. I live in the same general region and enjoy photographing some of the same landscapes. This book is one I will keep in my bag for a few months while I get to know my new camera.I bought this before pulling the trigger to see if it had all of the features I was interested in or if I needed to wait for the D500. I am very excited for my new camera - I have a great headstart thanks to this book.
