A Must for Every Religious or Art Scholars LibraryBy AnnBarbieI have bought at least 3 copies of this book; as I keep loaning it out and/or giving it away to people looking for a good resource in this subject. It is my go-to book for understanding not only religious symbolism in art; but for an easily understandable narrative of the cultural development of the Abrahamic religions; their common core; and how they have diverged over the millennia.8 of 10 people found the following review helpful. Detailed OverviewBy Kindle CustomerOri Soltes is a charismatic; erudite scholar. In this book he creates a truly amazing overview of the evolution of sacred signs. He gives respect and dignity to religious tradition; while tracing familiar iconic images back to prehistoric origins.Reading this book you really feel that we are all part of "one family."It is great to encounter a book that takes such a broad view of history.I wish the book had more illustration; particularly color pictures.
