Originally published in 1983; Leo Steinbergs classic work has changed the viewing habits of a generation. After centuries of repression and censorship; the sexual component in thousands of revered icons of Christ is restored to visibility. Steinbergs evidence resides in the imagery of the overtly sexed Christ; in Infancy and again after death. Steinberg argues that the artists regarded the deliberate exposure of Christs genitalia as an affirmation of kinship with the human condition. Christs lifelong virginity; understood as potency under check; and the first offer of blood in the circumcision; both required acknowledgment of the genital organ. More than exercises in realism; these unabashed images underscore the crucial theological import of the Incarnation. This revised and greatly expanded edition not only adduces new visual evidence; but deepens the theological argument and engages the controversy aroused by the books first publication.

Not too many choices out there for a Neches River guide but this is a very good oneBy AmadoNot many choices of guides out there for the Neches River but I wasnt disappointed with this one. Laid out very intuitively; lots of good information and pictures. I used the information in it to prepare for my first trip to the river and had a fantastic time. Worth the money even if youre using it as a guide but want to find out about the history of the river along with some good pictures.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. greatBy Rick River Runneri would like to run neches from start to finish at help mrs gina update her book some things have changed. was very helpful1 of 1 people found the following review helpful.
