Messiaen Perspectives 2: Techniques; Influence and Reception

[ePub] Messiaen Perspectives 2: Techniques; Influence and Reception by Christopher Dingle; Robert Fallon at Arts-Photography

Description

An important; urgent book of essays from Britains most challenging dramatist: "...a great playwright - many; particularly in continental Europe; would say the greatest living English playwright." (The Independent)This collection of passionate and polemical essays deals with drama from its origin in the human mind to its use in history and the present. It explains the hidden working of drama behind the state; religion; family; crime and war. It is a revolutionary understanding of the human world with drama at its centre. A ruthless critique of the theatres present state and its trivialisation as entertainment by the media; it reveals and sees a radical new theatre for the future. Edward Bond is internationally recognised as a major playwright and a leading theoretician of drama. He is the most performed British dramatist abroad. This is his latest and most important account of the meaning and practice of theatre as we start a new millennium.

A GREAT HISTORY OF A VERY UNIQUE LAKEFRONT RESORTBy CrussellThis book has the advantage of being written by a young lady who is definitely "in love" with her subject...a small; quaint; charming "step-back-in-time" resort on the shore of Lake Erie in Northeastern Ohio Being born and raised in the town of Geneva (..just five miles south of GOTL) way back in the 1940s-50s; I share her feelings for GOTL. Now; Im very grateful to the author for revealing a lot of the history of GOTL that I had not known. The book is very thorough and well written with many interesting "old time" pictures. I thoroughly enjoyed it...0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Great times!By RunflatvetNice book; but you missed any mention of the "Sunken Bar". Went there one day; we had to want for some to leave before we could go in.(fire codes). $5.00 dollar cover charge; the "Jaggers" where the band for a afternoon jam! Had the best time at GOTL circa 1960.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Geneva on the Lake; Ohio bookBy OLDEESTUNESIf anyone knows about this place; GET this book NOW.
