Description

A bold and theatrically inventive adaptation of the literary classic that puts the interior life of the novel on stage. As a child; the orphaned Jane Eyre is taught by a succession of severe guardians to stifle her natural exuberance. A part of herself is locked away; out of view of polite society... until she arrives at Rochesters house as a governess to his young child. Soon Rochesters passionate nature reawakens Janes hidden self; but darker secrets are stirring in the attic... Polly Teale has liberated Jane Eyre in a way that Charlotte Bronte could not... Her most inspired idea is to fuse the mad woman in the attic with Janes younger self - Observer Puts the interior life of the book on stage as well as its narrative. Adaptations of this quality cant be dismissed as a poor second to reading the book - Time Out one of the finest and most searching stage adaptations I have ever seen... this Jane Eyre succeeds as both a wise distillation of the novel and a thrilling piece of theatre in its own right - Daily Telegraph

Landscape architecture as a key aspect of urban design--yes; a new theory--no.5 of 6 people found the following review helpful. UnapproachableBy Lrjohn3Im not sure why; but many architects and seemingly landscape urbanists feel the need to write about relatively straight forward concepts in these totally unapproachable and molasses like vocabularies (meaning the flow of the read can be smooth; but too often gets bogged up in sticky confounding terminology). Its unnecessary; the heart of the text is fantastic if you can push through the jargon. These concepts will continue to be unapproachable until one of these folks decides to write a book that people can read.0 of 2 people found the following review helpful. good readBy farahmust read for anyone concerned with or studies public space; landscape architecture. introduction and overview of the topic of landscape urbanism. leads into a much wider readings.
