Method for the One-Keyed Flute

[ePub] Method for the One-Keyed Flute by Janice Dockendorff Boland in Arts-Photography

Description

Today architecture and other fields in the built environment face the steep task of answering complex questions pertaining to sustainability; performance; and adaptability. How are these disciplines to accomplish these difficult tasks at such an immense pace? How might architectural practice renovate itself accordingly?Worldwide it is becoming increasingly clear that different modes of research are emerging which are triggered directly by the need to renovate practice. One significant prevailing mode is what has come to be known as ‘research by design’. This book delivers an overview of this pluralistic domain. Bringing together a range of leading architects; architectural theorists; and designers; it outlines the developments in current practice from leading individuals based in the USA; UK; Australia; Japan and Europe. Edited by a recognized expert; this book exposes the undercurrent of research; which is taking place and how this will contribute to the renovation of architectural practice.

5 of 5 people found the following review helpful. A near-perfect historical instrument methodBy Allen T. GarvinThis is one of the best method books Ive seen for a historical instrument. Every essential topic is covered: tuning. intonation. articulation. fingering. baroque classical ornamentation (fingering for trills off of each note. for instance). Period sources (notably Quantz. plus several others) are quoted frequently. There is also a good discussion on the differences between different historical models. Plus there is a wealth of exercises and tunes from the period. While not pretending to be complete in every sense. this is far superior to many methods Ive seen for recorder and other instruments. Its also quite affordable.2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Excellent introductionBy Simon-pierre GravelThis book provides a very good introduction to the one-keyed flute. It contains a lot : history. historical playing. fingering. flattement. scales. exercises. songs (mostly from english composers but you can find some Blavet).1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. The Baroque Flute: A ReferenceBy Music JourneyI have been working with this book quite a bit lately in my efforts to play the baroque flute. I recommend it as an important beginning to learning the baroque flute (one keyed flute or traverso). It sets out a very clear interpretation of the baroque tutors and historical reference material. Particularly important to me were the fingering charts. the scale studies.the appendix material on repertoire and the information on cleaning. maintenance and guidelines for traveling with your instrument. This review is both for the paperback and Kindle editions.
