Mitchs love for his daughter was over the top. A true love story in itself. Very sad that all that he tried to do for Amy; and still could not save her! It goes to show me just how powerful a addiction is; and even when you finally want to get help and get better how the addictions can suck you down again. I believe that Amy really wanted to get clean; but the drugs just; did a override on all her thinking. Also very sad that all the people around her were not doing things in her best interest to stop using the drugs. Even her love for her dad which I think was huge; couldnt get her off the cycle of drugs and alcohol. Great book!!! But a very sad story for such a incredibly great talent and only getting better at her skill set.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Heart-wrenchingBy Dave the CollectorI recently started listening to Amys music and had previous knowledge of her untimely death over 3 years ago. As I listened to her albums; Frank and Back to Black; all I could think was: Who was the woman behind this amazing voice? I wanted to know more about her and try to understand why she passed soon. As I looked for biographies; I stumbled upon this book. All in all this book is amazing and I thank Mitch Winehouse for writing it. He allows us to see Amy not as a celebrity but as a normal person; a loving and caring daughter that happened to have great talent and a bright future. I dont want to let on any spoilers but this book was well written and throughout each and every chapter I felt as though I was part of Amys number circle of family friends. This book made me fall in love with the person Amy was and as I finished the book I was nearly in tears. I love Amys music and I wish she were still here today because she offered the world so much.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. A fairly straightforward account of Amys life from her fathers point of viewBy CustomerThis was not a bad book. It felt like a straightforward; well-written account of Amys life from her fathers point of view; and you cant really ask anything more than that from the book; the story; or the author. The book was well-written; grammar; flow; and so on; were all fine. But the book really slowed down and dragged in the middle part (40-60%?); where the narrative completely stalled out with endless loops of drugs; rehab; promises; relapses; messed up gigs; short cleanups; then back to the lies; drugs; drinking; rehabs; ... every page told the same story over and over and over again. It was awful to read; but I imagined at the time it would have been infinitely worse to live out. So as a book representation of what life was like (going round and round); I think the book communicated the endless loops feeling to the reader (intentional or not).I would recommend the book to Amy fans or those who want to know more about her life.
