Mixing and Mastering in the Box: The Guide to Making Great Mixes and Final Masters on Your Computer

[ebooks] Mixing and Mastering in the Box: The Guide to Making Great Mixes and Final Masters on Your Computer by Steve Savage at Arts-Photography

Description

At first I was a bit thrown off by the informal writing style; but it is so effective in serving the books purpose that its actually kind of genius; Bridget Watson Paynes voice is that of an insightful; comforting; and hilarious friend that knows just what to say to make you feel soothed and inspired. (I hope she writes a thousand books because I want to come to her with all my problems) In this case; her words casually yet powerfully subvert everything that kind of sucks about the culture around art and get straight to what is actually importantmdash;experiencing the magic of art.Id recommend this book for anyone who wants to spend less time fretting about the details of the art worldmdash;like what work is cool or important; how to buy the right art; how to walk into a fancy gallery even if you feel like you dont belong; and so onmdash;and more time simply being moved by art.A quick; easy; and delightful read; full of great advice.Pro Tip: Anything published by Chronicle is worth getting in print form because of the amazing design work; and this bright and shiny book is no exception.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Trust your TasteBy mykl-sBridget Watson Paynersquo;s little book about art appreciation helped me understand why art already makes me happy; and gave me some welcome advice on how to make the the whole art viewing; art understanding experience more fulfilling. It is a quick read; but worth returning to.It reads like a wise friend telling me things like:-You can find the time to go see that show or that museum or gallery.-You donrsquo;t have to feel obligated look at anything you donrsquo;t want to.-Art that looks like the world helps us see the world.-Art that doesnrsquo;t look like the world helps us see the world.Unfortunately for me the book is visually jarring; printed mostly in a brownish san serif type on bright yellow pages. But it is small; pithy; conveniently fits in my back pocket; and is easy to carry around.Payne tells me to trust my taste in art and not be afraid to use my own words to describe it. This is good advice. She goes on to recommend ways to learn more about art; how to talk about it; and how sometimes the most articulate of us are so overwhelmed by a work that we just canrsquo;t describe it in words.3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Loved the message of this book and Bridgets voice and ...By Elena KarplusLoved the message of this book and Bridgets voice and easy reading style. The reason I did not give it 5 stars is because I had a lot of trouble reading certain pages. While I found the book visually appealing; the combination of paper and color of print was distracting and at times hard for me to read.
