I think its important that even in this day of plug-ins and DAWs; its always good to know where a lot of the techniques we use and take for granted came from. Of course; many of them were "mistakes" or "happy accidents" but that would just encourage one to keep exploring for new sounds and effects; right? This book is incredibly comprehensive in the territory it covers and theres even a section on Mobile Recording. It also gives you a bit of insight in regards to where a lot of the classic rock that we still listen to today was recorded and the circumstances around that.
