A Gem!By Pat KruseWhen I purchased the book I thought it would be something I could just thumb through and look at the pictures but I was so wrong. It is wonderful and I was mesmerized from beginning to end. I read every word and had a magnifying glass nearby so I could better see the little details in the pictures. I cannot imagine how much time and effort went into creating this little gem. As a full time desert resident; I remember many of the events that are included in the book. They didnt seem so important at the time but in retrospect; they were very important. His extensive use of wonderful photographs gives us a pictorial historical perspective with which we can see the development of this very popular area of California; as well as the influence that political and show business figures had in its evolution. It is well researched; well written; and makes quite interesting reading for anyone interested in geographical history.
