Mount Vernon Revisited (Images of America)

[audiobook] Mount Vernon Revisited (Images of America) by Dr. Larry H. Spruill; Donna M. Jackson at Arts-Photography

Description

Dahlov Ipcar is best known for her vibrant collage-style paintings of jungle and farm animals. This clearly evident love of animals is due in part to the summers she spent with her family in Maine. In 1923 the Zorach family (her parents were the famous artists William and Marguerite Zorach) bought a farm at Robinhood Cove in Georgetown; Maine. It was during a Maine summer that Dahlov met her future husband Adolph Ipcar. They married in September 1936 and after living in New York City for a short time; they moved permanently to Maine. where she still lives today.

Review
2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Great un-ordinary Christmas bookBy KJsPurchasesIf you like the works of Mancini; you will love this book! It is not the typical Christmas piano book. There are many medleys and jazzier versions of the songs. It would be great for a Christmas concert; recital; or special performance. It has both religious and non-religious tunes. I would put this at an late-intermediate level of difficulty.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Love it!By garnLove this book. It came quickly and was just as described. "Jingle bells; jing-a-ling-a-lingle; jingle all the way..."By Annie Van AukenRCA VICTORs original 1966 black label LP of A VERY MANCINI CHRISTMAS (LPM/LSP-3612) has a cover photo of Henry Mancini; his wife and three teen kids. That companys early 70s yellow label Dynaflex reissue is decorated with a snowflake made of various sized translucent and clear glass balls.Hank was at the top of his game when this album was issued. One can recognize among the Mancini chorus; voices clearly heard on top-charting singles "The Sweetheart Tree;" "Dear Heart;" "Moon River" and others. Also obvious throughout are jazzy little flourishes that instantly stamp these recordings as genuine Mancinis. As might be expected from his first-ever holiday album; all here are of the finest quality."Jingle Bells/Sleigh Ride" is a jazz swinger that features flute punctuations by Arthur Gleghorn; plus some cool walking bass. Vincent De Rosas French horn and tasty vibe fills open "Christmas Song." Mancinis strings lend gorgeous support on "Winter Wonderland" to a chorus thats heavily echo-draped. Theres plenty of punching brass on "Rudolph.""Carol for Another Christmas;" a Hank original; is a serene neo-classical piece that features Arthur Koblentz on oboe. De Rosa returns to open "Silent Night." Hes joined by guitarist Laurindo Almeida (on loan from CAPITOL) before the subdued chorus enters. Harpsichordist Pearl Kaufman; plus Koblentz (oboe) commence the three song "Kings/Faithful/Joy" medley; with De Rosa introing the second carol.SIDE ONE[3:12] The Little Drummer Boy[3:36] Medley: Jingle Bells; Sleigh Ride[3:30] The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire)[3:48] Medley: Winter Wonderland; Silver Bells[2:25] Medley: Frosty the Snowman; Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer[2:39] White ChristmasSIDE TWO[2:33] Carol for Another Christmas[6:39] Medley: Silent Night; O Holy Night; O Little Town of Bethlehem[3:14] Medley: God Rest Ye Merry; Gentlemen; Deck the Halls; Hark!
