But the photos and illustrations are not nearly as clear as the "Teach Yourself Visually" books on Crochet and Knitting. I find it very difficult to make out most of the photos; I wish they were at least 50% larger and much more crisp. I havent put the book to use yet - I am hoping that the accompanying written instructions are clear.I may decide to return this book. I bought it because the Knitting and Crochet books are EXCELLENT - mostly for people with beginner to intermediate skills; but good for reference for all. I taught myself to knit using the Teach Yourself Visually Knitting book and know that I am successful with this type of instruction. Skimming through the book; it seems to provide the basics of the main styles of construction with detailed photos of each technique. The first chapter gives good information about choosing yarn and needles that is essential for those starting out. Tips sprinkled liberally throughout will keep me from having to "invent the wheel" as I progress. And there are enough patterns to practice from while I perfect this new-to-me skill.
