I have passed this book on to other owners of dogs who themselves appreciate the privilege of loving and being loved by their pet. Photographs are wonderful and creative.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. A wonderful tool for veterinarians/animal grief clinics...By Elisabeth A. HegartyAs a person who works in the veterinary field. I read many aninal books. My Lucky Dog was one of the best books I have ever read about an animal and its connection with a nurturing. caring owner. I acquired the book as a gift from a staff member of the publisher and it is a gift that I have truly cherished. While the photographs in the book are stunning. the bond between the owner and the pet was what truly made the book special to me. Since I first read the book. I have ordered many copies and have given the book to many veterinarians. They are now buying the book for their clients and animal hospital waiting rooms. I have also given the book to a woman who leads a session for people who have lost their pets in pet loss grief counseling. She has recommended it to people attending her sessions. I have also given the book to several friends whose pets recently died. All have told me afterward that the book really helped them cope with the loss of their pet. Frankly. I think it should be on the MUST READ book for veterinary students to help them learn how to be sensitive to owners with pets who have to be euthanized. who have died or who have terminal illnesses. However. in addition to helping readers cope with death of a pet. the book was most of all a celebration of life - the life of a wonderful dog and the life of a loving owner. It is a book to be read over and over and over again.
