Beautifully illustrated in full color plates from a variety posters ...By Dorothy DiOrioA truly interesting compilation of scholarly analysis and selected posters from the World War I era. Beautifully illustrated in full color plates from a variety posters produced in the different countries involved in this war. For each poster; Dr. Linder offers a fascinating discussion of pertinent information regarding details of the scene depicted; commentary on the verbiage that accompanies each image; and contextual information that prompted the creation of the poster. This book can appeal to the scholar as well as to the casual reader with an interest in history and in one of the major events to shape the lives of the worlds people in the years that followed. Bravo to Dr. Linder for making this book available!0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Art; history; and more...By SACTrndKlrWhat might seem like an obscure subject turns out to be a fascinating look at all sides of the war and how the art expressed in the War posters was a window into the culture and mindset of the various belligerents. The reproductions of the poster are vibrant; and the accompanying narratives had be going back time and time again to study the posters even more. I look forward to more like this from Dr. Linder in the future!0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. This book is outstanding.
