Parents who are interested in helping their children develop the ability to think creatively and independently should note that purchasing them nature books regarding tigers is a great way to put this process in motion. Nature books that feature tigers can spark a childs imagination for many reasons; one of which is that they can cause the child to think critically and complexly about the natural setting. Additionally; books featuring tigers will often generate questions regarding the habits and physiological make-up of the creatures; thereby functioning as a springboard for intelligent discourse regarding the animals.

The Artists Reality is lively and readable; the ideas are not written in such a way that they obfuscate meaning; as so much art theory seems to be; but to reveal; to share. I felt as though I had had an opportunity to sit down with one of the giants of Modern Art (with capitals)and listen to his early- and mid-career ruminations on philosophy; art history and art theory that eventually led to the now iconic paintings of the legendary painter. In fact; this avowedly (by the editor)"unfinished" book easily convinces the reader of the inevitability of that journey; and its ever-forward motion. As a painter first and an art historian second; I have to say that the chapter on "The Artists Dilemma" was worth the price of the book. But so were several other chapters. I love painters who think about painting; virtually all the time; its obvious that Rothko was passionately involved with the act and the thinking behind the act. Perhaps it was became he came to love painting late; as an adult. Some reviewers have apparently had a problem with Rothkos son Christopher editing the manuscript (which was in bits and pieces) for publication; its having been hidden away for many years before and after Rothkos suicide in 1970 and only recently (2004) brought out in its current form. I dont; I think the son did his father proud. Mark Rothko comes across as an intelligent; thoughtful; creative painter and man. It is a lovely book; indeed.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. One of my favorite art books.By nach0_her0One of my favorite art books. If you like to read art books that arent just pictures of the same uber-famous artists; or if you like to get inside the head of an artist who creates with a psychological and spiritual purpose then this book is for you. Think of it as a sort of philosophy of creating.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. convoluted interesting readBy elvira dayelits interestingly convoluted. exactly what one would expect from anow artist who tries to figure things out. I can very much relate to the content of the book. I love it!
