Ocean City; Marylandrsquo;s own seaside resort; has become so popular that it is almost too smallmdash;five square milesmdash;to hold all its tourists. The last few decades have brought tremendous growth to the area in the form of both population and development. Bridges and tunnels have been built; high-rise hotels and condominiums have grown up; and amusements of all kinds have become available to the summertime crowds. In this second volume of Ocean City; images of beach life from the late 1940s to the present day capture the spirit of this popular vacation spot. From funnel cakes to Ferris wheels and deep-sea fishing to seasonal festivals; Ocean City; now a year-round retreat; has offered millions of visitors an endless variety of entertainment. Having survived destruction caused by storms; problems associated with the real estate boom; and the overwhelming surge of visitors who each summer crowd the boardwalk and Coastal Highway; this ldquo;smallrdquo; town has matured over the last few decades into the jewel of Marylandrsquo;s shore.

EXCELLENT IMAGES OF AMERICA VOLUMEBy LescribeThis is one of the Images of America books. which are really little gems of interesting historical pictures and information on various cities of the United States. I first became interested in them while perusing at our local library. and found several of local interest. I have branched out as Newport Rhode Island is a favorite city of mine. and this book. as indeed. all of them. give a pictoral synopsis which is interesting and worth reading. The publisher has a website. ARCADIA.COM. which gives a more extensive list if you are interested in a particular city or period that may not be available on . These books are not huge but pack a whallop of well written information and pictures for the price. Really excellent for the armchair traveler. Keep in mind. these are not travel books. but rather historical narratives. This one on Newport was very good. Urge you to check them out. if you love history.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Fun Pics of a great cityBy P. robbLots of great pics here.
