Nikon D5100 Digital Field Guide

[ebooks] Nikon D5100 Digital Field Guide by J. Dennis Thomas at Arts-Photography

Description

Learn the ancient art of Japanese archery or Kyudo with this illustrated guide. The Japanese Art of Archery; is deeply rooted in tradition. It not only continues to enjoy widespread popularity in Japan; but is also attracting the interest of more and more foreigners; in much the same manner as Japans other distinctive sports; such as judo; sumo; kendo; and karate. Kyudo: The Japanese Art of Archery offers a concise description of kyudo by an ardent American enthusiast; describing the aims; the techniques; and the philosophic basis of its ceremonial aspect; which is strongly influenced by Zen philosophy.Carefully illustrated; this is a practical text; giving all of the necessary fundamentals. The author clearly describes the basic difference between American and Japanese archery. He points out the superior neatness and schematic beauty of the Oriental full draw; in which the chest is fully extended and the shoulders are thrust as far apart as possible; inasmuch as the string is drawn to a point well back; as was done in the old English archery of Roger Aschamrsquo;s time.

RabonBought this for kindle so that I could have a nice reference available on my iPhone (via the iPhone kindle app) when Im out and about. The book doesnt assume anything. but also isnt annoying slow for someone who already knows the basics.Walks you through every setting and mode very clearly on the D3100 and even recommends accessories and lenses (by the way. the 35mm prime f1.8 Nikkor lens is a MUST for everyone).Itll even teach you a lot about the basics of photography as well. I consider myself intermediate and there where a few concepts that I kind of knew that this more fully fleshed out for me.You bought your D3100 to take awesome pictures and get more than your point and shoot camera could provide. This book will help you actually do that. unlike 90% of D3100 owners who use it as a really bulky. really expensive point and shoot. The D3100 is really an amazing camera for the price. buy this and realize what a great camera it is.4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. Great Book for the Beginning D-SLR PhotographerBy D. B.I purchased this book a few days after receiving the Nikon D3100 Kit. Being a beginner. I was wondering if this guide would be a little too advanced for a newbie like me. I was able to purchase it for $13. so I figured it wouldnt be a waste.First. the book starts out with a small. "Quick Tour" of the D3100. This was very helpful to someone new to the camera. but also helpful to someone who has never used a D-SLR. After a few pages. the first chapter delves more deeply into the camera. explaining functionality in much more detail.More reading provides information on basic composition. lighting. and equipment. I found these chapters to be most helpful. having never used anything other than a point-and-shoot digital camera. I have since referenced these chapters several times while taking some practice shots. Although I am not currently interested in shooting video. theres a quick chapter on doing it with the D3100. for those who are interested. The most applicable chapter. for my competency level. was one that deals with shooting in many different types of real-world situations. In great detail. the book covers shooting landscapes. sporting events. portraits. in low light. etc.. I have also referenced these while practicing. All in all. I would definitely recommend this book for the pure beginner. Its very well written and easy to breeze through. The book is also not overly technical. but provides more detail in all of the right places.13 of 13 people found the following review helpful. Well laid out and written bookBy Hawk-eyeA good solid ... basic guide book for the D3100 ... not a comprehensive detailed manual ... but just what one needs to understand what you are getting with your camera. Especially helpful for reference back to those little used functions you might need to remind yourself about on the camera.I like the format and the easy of use. I think it is well put together and helpful for a new owner of the particular camera. It is what it says it is ... a field guide. Small enough to tote with you on a trip. A bit to large to carry in the field ... but serves its purpose well.
