Northeast Georgia: A History (Making of America)

[audiobook] Northeast Georgia: A History (Making of America) by Gordon Sawyer at Arts-Photography

Description

Beginning with its first settlement in the 1880s; La Jolla established its reputation as a Southern California seaside community known for incredible beauty and natural wonders; shores washed by the surf of the Pacific; and hillsides by jagged sandstone cliffs rising from the sea. Artists; architects; and an incredible philanthropist (Ellen Browning Scripps) were attracted to the community early on. Later came fantastic growth and change.

Gives a good basic understanding of the history of the area. but it was much "lighter" than I had hoped for. A thorough examination of this topic could easily have been three times as long. but for what is basically an extended overview. this book does a nice enough job. and is a generally pleasant read. Id really give it 3.5 stars. if we were allowed to give half-star ratings.Note that I am a resident of the area. and was born here. so a lot of this history I absorbed growing up.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Good DescriptionBy Old WarhorseGood general description and easy to follow history of Northeast Georgia. Great reading. Gordons descriptions and stories concerning Northeast Georgia are filled with rich descriptions of early life in the mountainous regions of North Georgia. filled with many anecdotes and stories of the people who comprised this region of the state.
