The photos are taken with natural light and just the tiniest bit of fill light. making the images look natural and superhuman at the same time. I think its so cool to honor these people. their talents and their culture. The book is done with a lot of respect without being patronizing. I love this book and Im so glad I stumbled upon it.3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Fantastic book about traditional Oaxacan clothingBy Jeanette HeardI was thrilled to finally see this book. I had been following Eric Mindlings posts on facebook as he traveled through Oaxaca and photographed traditional clothing for a couple of years. It was worth the wait. The photographs are fantastic and evoke the people and land as well as documenting the clothing traditions. I have been to some of the areas on one of Erics Traditions Mexico tours and enjoyed seeing photographs from there as well as areas far more remote. The text is a wonderful background to the photographs. For anyone who loves Mexico. people. spinning. weaving.or traditional clothing. this book is worth having. I also have Erics book about pottery. Barro y Fuego. which treats the Mexican pottery tradition and people equally well.2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. What an incredibly beautiful book. and such a respectful celebration and tribute ...By Paul C.What an incredibly beautiful book. and such a respectful celebration and tribute to the people and places inside the land of Oaxaca. If you can find any connection to the history. the women. the textiles. the magic or the quiet ferocity inside these pages. I imagine youll be deeply touched. Absorbing these photos. I could not imagine picking a favorite. Eric Mindling has given us quite a gift.
