Obsolescence: An Architectural History

[DOC] Obsolescence: An Architectural History by Daniel M. Abramson in Arts-Photography

Description

Joseacute; Victoriano Gonzaacute;lez-Peacute;rez (1887 ndash; 1927); better known as Juan Gris; was a Spanish painter and sculptor born in Madrid who lived and worked in France most of his life. Closely connected to the innovative artistic genre Cubism; his works are among the movements most distinctive. In 1906 he moved to Paris and became friends with Henri Matisse; Georges Braque and Fernand Leacute;ger. In Paris; Gris followed the lead of another friend and fellow countryman; Pablo Picasso. Gris began to paint seriously in 1910; developing at this time a personal Cubist style. At first Gris painted in the style of Analytical Cubism; a term he himself later coined; but after 1913 he began his conversion to Synthetic Cubism; of which he became a steadfast interpreter; with extensive use of papier colleacute; or; collage. Unlike Picasso and Braque; whose Cubist works were practically monochromatic; Gris painted with bright harmonious colors in daring; novel combinations in the manner of his friend Matisse.

This book will be a gift for him. It does not have lots of color pics; like I hoped it would. But; its more of a novel-style book; rather than a how-to book. This version is hard backed with a dust cover. Its over 400 pages. Im hoping he will like it.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. this is a great review of the history and culture surrounding woodBy _Wow; this is a great review of the history and culture surrounding wood.
