Then. it was about political correctness gone mad. whereas now the play feels like its really about power. As a power struggle between the teacher and the student. the play is funny and gripping. but not as intellectual as it was when it first came out. Read it as a polemic. (which I think Mamet originally intended) and it will fall flat. Read it as modern Strindberg and it will resonate.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Simple version of OleannaBy AtlasI had to buy this very short story for my college Critical Thinking class. I was relieved to see that it is a pretty bare version that sticks to a simplistic form. Some other students in the class had bought a version that had easily 80 more pages (Im not sure how this could be given how short the story is) so I was very happy with my choice. Mamet is an excellent play write and I found his story to be fantastic. I recommend watching the film AFTER you read the story because Ive noticed the film easily persuades you from your original stances and I believe this is due to the visual and body language used.....so read first!0 of 0 people found the following review helpful.
