[ePub] Open Book Theater Management: Ethical Theater Production by Rafe Beckley in Arts-Photography

Description

A thrilling tale of altruism; greed; and the search for a way to belong. When a British couple are seized by Somali pirates; an East London taxi driver decides to rescue them. Meeting disbelief with determination; he dismisses the fears of his wife and flies out to negotiate their release. Speeding from the banks of the Thames to the now unfamiliar world of his homeland; he confronts the family he left behind and the bravado of the defiant men he once called brothers. The Initiate premiered at the 2014 Edinburgh Festival Fringe in a production by Paines Plough; where it won a Fringe First Award; before touring. a carefully wrought work which cleverly explores its themes an unsettling; forthright piece of writing that will leave you thinking Time Out wonderfully slippery and always intelligent offers much to enjoy in its thriller-like structure Guardian

He loved it; although the expectation of the accompanying DVDs was different than delivered.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Sometimes interestingBy Alex CraigThis is a very up-and-down book; mixing the interesting and/or amusing with the tedious. The discussions on literature and philosophy are mostly in the tedious area. The musicologist types tend to harp on their own agendas regardless of the subject matter theyre supposed to be covering. The musicians either offer interesting insights or belabor the obvious. Sometimes the disagreements between interviewees are amusing. In the discussions of films about Schumann; Tibbetts adopts the same pedantic approach that disfigured his earlier book on composer films. There are a number of inaccuracies (opus numbers; dates; etc.) All in all; though; the book is worth a read. Perhaps the best thing about it is the included CD with Ronald Brautigam playing the "Noveletten".5 of 6 people found the following review helpful. Praise for A Chorus of VoicesBy C. J. MillerWith Schumann - A Chorus of Voices; author John Tibbetts has drawn together a rich and diverse collection of perspectives; memories; and passions. The "chorus" created by these voices spans time; geography; and orientation; to create a holistic picture of Schumanns life; work; and influences that is as deep as it is broad. The volume offers a treatment of the material that can be found nowhere else; and for that reason alone is an essential part of a music history library.
