[audiobook] Our World Tour: A Photographic Journey Around the Earth by Mario Dirks in Arts-Photography

Description

Weve all heard the saying; "Clothes make the man"; but does the photographic equipment make the photographer? One might think so when looking at new advanced cameras; dream lenses; and all the editing software out there. Others might disagree after admiring the wonderful photographs by Henri Cartier Bresson or Edward Weston; which were taken with relatively simple cameras and lenses. The real questions to ask yourself are: What kind of images would I like to make? And what are all these things that I see advertised as indispensable photo equipment really for?Geared toward the beginning to intermediate photographer; this book teaches about the variety of photographic tools available and what each is meant to accomplish. Learn about the benefits and drawbacks of various pieces of equipment and discover what kind of gear you need to realize your creative ambitions. The book is filled with beautiful images that illustrate how the type of equipment discussed can affect an image.

And the likelihood of a single book being both chock full of delicious eye candy and wonderfully satisfying to the intellectually curious seems pretty low. But Coloring the Universe is such a book; and I canrsquo;t think of another example that fits that bill. Though Coloring the Universe expertly fulfills its promise of providing an explanation as to how data from spacemdash;gathered through high-powered telescopesmdash;is ultimately translated into the breathtakingly gorgeous images generously reproduced throughout the book; it does so much more than that. The book also serves as an accessible and understandable primer on basic astronomy and does an excellent job of introducing that science in plain English. To an incurious layperson; the spectacular images in the book are worth the pricemdash;they are some of the most beautiful images I have ever seenmdash;but I have no doubt that those images will invoke questions from such laypersons; perhaps the most fundamental of which might be; how big is the universe? What is a lightyear? And so on. But unlike space-themed ldquo;coffee tablerdquo; books that are rich in color but not so much in substantive and accessible pros; Coloring the Universe really has it all such that it wonrsquo;t be necessary to put down the book and start doing Google searches when basic questions arise. And as we who are busy well know; knowledge often remains unattained when attaining it becomes the least bit inconvenient. Perhaps most importantly; this book solves some thorny Christmas shopping quandaries for me because it is so uniquely appealing to such a wide range of minds in various life phases. Irsquo;ve purchased three copies as gifts so far. There is; however; one question that arose in my mind while reading Coloring the Universe that remains answered: why has it taken until 2015 for such a book to be published? I love this book!!!!4 of 5 people found the following review helpful. This new book describes our use of our Telescopes around the World and in Space and how they reveal in Great "Detail and Color" the "Most Spectacular Images" that humankind has ever seen! Theres a wealth of information that accurately depicts how Astronomers and Researchers utilize these Powerful instruments to extract every pixel thats captured in all its glory and develop these into "Outstanding" images that have evaded the human eye since the dawn of time!
