Fantastic reference for the accomplished and the aspiring!By jgimagecreationsPainting Realistic Wildlife... contains beautiful artistry and very clear. detailed step-by-step techniques that are sure to help both aspiring art students and the accomplished artisan alike. I am currently an art student. and I wish I would have had this book with me when I was taking my traditional painting courses. I have gained more from this book than I have in all of my painting classes combined. This book shows better techniques for fleshing in and blocking in painting compositions. and it helps to achieve photorealistic details with the more difficult elements like fur. textured skin and scales. William Silvers has done a fantastic job sharing his talent and techniques with the world!6 of 6 people found the following review helpful. Learn more than you ever thought was possibleBy Thom P. HammondThis is an extremely instructive book. from basic work materials and tools. to completed paintings. Techniques in the handling of the brush [especially the 1.5 inch all-round workhorse] mixtures of paint and application of glazes are very informative. I especially liked the discussion about composition and how to attempt premier art instead of just good art. The section that delved into the aspects of painting that goes beyond technique was what caught my attention. This is a tricky area that deserves much discussion because most people can follow a recipe. few can create masterpieces. Art is Art because it is elusive and not everyone can produce it - certainly not by formulaic step-by-step execution. Hurrah to Mr. Silvers for producing his Fine Art works and thanks for allowing us a peek into his tent.2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Ok. not great.By WolfvixenThis book has a lot of great tips on textures. lighting. and portion. However. I found that the step-by-step wasnt done very well. The steps are done in big leaps. which isnt necessarily good for someone starting out in painting. and as someone whos been painting for a while. I found the painting technique a little bit ... different. The artist uses color blocking which is good. but primarily recommends the use of a single brush. The book is was at least worth it for the tips. but not so much on the actual step-by-step painting technique. Might be better for someone who hadnt already developed a particular painting style.
