Painting with Light: Lighting Photoshop Techniques for Photographers

[DOC] Painting with Light: Lighting Photoshop Techniques for Photographers by Eric Curry at Arts-Photography

Description

A symbol of Indianas past; the covered bridge still evokes feelings of nostalgia; romance; and even mystery. During the 19th century; over 500 of these handsome structures spanned the streams; rivers; and ravines of Indiana. Plagued by floods; fire; storms; neglect; and arson; today fewer than 100 remain. Marsha Williamson Mohrs photographs capture the timeless and simple beauty of these well-traveled structures from around the state; including Parke Countymdash;the unofficial covered bridge capital of the world. With 105 color photographs; Indianas Covered Bridges will appeal to everyone who treasures Indianas rich architectural heritage.

I incorrectly assumed that he just took some nice photos and then used Photoshop to add color to the shot. I was surprised to learn that these amazing photographs were all composed by carefully lighting each part of the picture. then layering the results to achieve a high definition. almost three-dimensional look to the final composition. In "Painting with Light." Eric explains the process he uses to achieve his phenomenally impressive work. As an aspiring novice photographer. I found the book interesting and easy to understand. The material is presented in a manner that will benefit amateur and professional photographers alike. Eric takes the reader through the entire process. from planning the shot. to setting it up. to photographing the subject. and finally explaining the postproduction involved to create the final composition.Erics unselfish willingness to share his artistic brilliance is to be commended. After seeing many of his finished photographs. I would have to compare this to Michelangelo teaching us how to paint ceilings in your local chapel! Eric makes it clear that he is presenting this material not so that someone can mimic his work. but so that they can approach photographic lighting techniques in new and creative ways. I highly recommend this book to anyone with an interest in photography.3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. A Great Book on Light PaintingBy Acton WillieThis book is very well written. Along with the diagrams. it gives you a lot of good ideas on what to do to get it right. the best part is that it advises you to start small with only two or three images to combine and then work your way up to the bigger projects (given the fact that the authors final images can be over 200 images combined). The author also gives you instruction on how to combine your images in photo shop (I have not tried this yet because I have never worked with layers. but it does not seem that hard). for the best results. When it comes to light painting. Eric Curry is a master of the craft and his work is very inspirational.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. try it you will like itBy D Sponselloved it and used it
