Parker (Images of America)

[PDF] Parker (Images of America) by Ann Pratt Houpt at Arts-Photography

Description

Born of a countrys collective desire for riches; Sacramento was resolute in its survival while other Gold Rush towns faded into history. It battled catastrophic fires; floods; and epidemics to become the original western hub and laid claim to the capital of a state that would one day have the worlds fifth largest economy. The communitys flourishing growth is not just a product of its economic viability; but a direct result of the cultural vibrance and fortitude of a diverse populace that remains the backbone of our countrys most dynamic state.

FL. I grew up hearing about the people and places Ann Houpt includes in her book. It was fascinating to be able to put faces to names Id heard all my life. While thumbing through this collection of photos it becomes obvious that Houpt put a lot of time and energy into organizing the history of Parker. I am thrilled to have this book in my library. not only because it includes photos from my family genealogy but because it will be of interest to anyone with an affinity for old photos and data from "back in time."
