He offered up a chronology of recording facts and a behind the scenes whose who that I had never known before and found very interesting. Dave Thompson inserted the more credible recounts of facts about the private behaviors of Phil Spector without dragging in the many hearsay stories that are out there. Between the Al Pacino-played version of Mr. Spector. an actual interview of Mr. Spector filmed one month before his trial. and the subtle details learned from reading this book. I came away feeling sorrowful for Mr. Spectors social disorder that had caused him so much obvious pain. I also gained a whole new insight into how the record producing business was done and how important the producing business was at shaping the sounds we listened to. Ill never listen to his music the same way knowing how much of Mr. Spectors private passion and pain was in it.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Listen to River Deep Mountain High and even in mono it sounds like stereo with everything going on. Like Brian Wilson who idolized Phil no one can pull off mono like these two.
