An essential guideBy Kindle CustomerThe Adirondack Park is an enormous place. some of it reachable only by boat (or kayak. etc.). some only by a lengthy hike. There are parts of the Adirondacks that I know very well. others that I know fairly well -- and then there are vastly more parts that I would never be able to discover at all without the help of this book.Carl Heilman II has lived and worked in the Adirondacks forever. He has had the opportunity to find and photograph everything from the well-known iconic places to the obscure ones. Now he generously shares his knowledge with us. offering descriptions of the places. directions on how to get there. suggestions for what to photograph and how. including the best times of day. In brief. he has saved you and me a lot of time and a great deal of legwork. Whether youve never been and are planning a trip to the Adirondacks or. like me. you have your repertoire of favorite places built up over the years and are eager to try something new. this is a great book. well worth the investment. Please note that this is not a book of technical advice on how to take photographs. It happens too often that someone will review a book like this negatively because the author has not done what he never intended to do in the book.I should add. as well. that the book is divided into chapters devoted to specific sections of the vast Adirondack Park -- very useful since. unless youre fortunate enough to be spending a month or more there. youll undoubtedly want to choose one or perhaps two places n which to concentrate.4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. Is As AdvertisedBy ZCCH - Sonoma. CAThis book shows and describes good locations for taking images in the Adirondacks. We were hoping for a few more locations in the areas we will traveling. but it does have plenty to get us started in the planning process. It doesnt cover how to use a camera and it was not supposed to do this. I am glad it does not cover the beginning aspects of making images. That is for a different type of book. We will be carrying it on out trip for reference. I just wish the Kindle version had come out on time. That was what we ordered but we had to switch when it kept getting delayed and wouldnt be ready before we left.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Ill wear it out....By ritewingerThis is a nice and a little different kind of a guide. Divided into sections with good maps and hike instructions. fine trail head info and some great photo examples as well. Ill be getting to the Adirondacks more next year. and this softcover book will get a workout at that time. Well done....
