SteeleI found this book to be accurate in its presentation of information concerning how to achieve better sight reading skills. The authors analysis of sight reading problems was clearly presented and very applicable to my own difficulties in this area. I have been applying the suggested methods and found they do indeed work; my sight reading is steadily improving and my playing is much more enjoyable as I am involved in playing far more pieces in less time. The only criticism and resulting downgrade to four stars concerns the rather redundant and wordy style. It is not as concise as it could have been and rambles around some.3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. GoodBy CustomerThis is an amazing book. You must search very hard to find the meaning of what the point really is but i love it.2 of 9 people found the following review helpful. Trust in the experienced. not your own method. Chances are. youre incorrect.By ShinjiroI have found that suggestions in method and practice of sight reading is very helpful but. because I am a beginner with a very fine ear. its a bit hard to accept some things said. Things that pertain to level of difficulty and the ambiguity in reading Note-by-Note passages on different staves where timing could be very confusing. However. moving with the assumption that most of this is just that of a psychological anomaly. Ive found myself hearing a lot more of what Im playing. instead of the other way around. I do wish there were more examples in reading. but. I suppose thats the cliffhanger. moving onto more difficult pieces.Another point. the suggested pieces for ordered difficulty seems silly to me being that Bach is not found in the beginning of practice. Perhaps this is why its entitled. "Piano - Guided Sight-Reading". Though. there is a lot of suggestion for Baroque. including Handel and Scarlatti. Anyways. thanks for reading my review and I hope that I get much better. quickly just as you may equally gain competence at the same rate....
