His earliest works; his Taos works; his under-appreciated abstracts and his last monumental landscapes of Big Bend; Texas receive beautiful full-page color reproductions that document his artistic journey and development.Through countless interviews with Hogue; Kalil garnered insight into Hogues life and art philosophies and was better able to understand Hogue both as a man and an artist. Her extensive use of Hogues quotes allow the reader to enter Hogues mind and better appreciate his creative process. Hogues career ran 80 years and he was always able to provide for his family as an artist.
