This book is a good way to prepare for a visit to Bali (and in particular Ubud) if you plan to devote time to Balinese painting. I read this and some other books; learned something about Hinduism by reading Knotts Short Guide to Hinduism and watching English-subtitled movie versions of the Ramayana and Mahabharata. Im no expert and there may be better ways to prepare; but I do you will have difficulty understanding and appreciating Balis extraordinary traditions in painting without some advance study.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful.
