Power; Speed Automation with Adobe Photoshop: (The Digital Imaging Masters Series)

[DOC] Power; Speed Automation with Adobe Photoshop: (The Digital Imaging Masters Series) by Geoff Scott; Jeffrey Tranberry in Arts-Photography

Description

Unlike his predecessor Van Eyck; Memling; considered a minor artist for a long time; was not a painter of the court; but of the bourgeoisie. Forgotten during the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries; Memling is nowadays regarded as one of the greatest painters of the United Provinces of the fifteenth century; thanks to the perfect balance between realism and idealisation that permeates his portraits. His compositions; most often diptychs and triptychs for altarpieces; show a talent comparable to that of Van Eyck. His taste for detail and precision in drawing; his mastery of technique; and his sense of composition produced such magnificent works as The Last Judg ment (1466-1473); The Mystic Marriage of St. Catherine (1479) and Seven Joys of the Virgin (1480). Through its rich collection of reproductions of Memling s major paintings; which highlight the fine faces and modest poses prescribed by the artistic canons of the time; this work examines the complex talent of this major artist.

Review
14 of 14 people found the following review helpful. could be better (and up to date)By John StevensonThis is a good book in many ways. but it has some unfortunate flaws. It is well written. generally straightforward to follow. and the diagrams. illustrations and images are excellent. Some of the material is covered in a comprehensive way.However. all of the content is taken from. and is directly applicable to. Photoshop CS5. For a book for which the copyright status is given as 2013. this is really problematic; given that Photoshop CS6 has been available as the newest release since the Spring of this year. The same applies to several of the associated applications covered in the book also. such as Adobe Configurator. In this case what the book actually covers is version 2.0 - the 2012-issued software is Configurator 3.0. The book mentions "ScriptingListener" as one of the key Adobe utilities - the newest version is actually available as ScriptListener (and seems to have been called by this name since at least the CS4 era). It does not install in Photoshop CS6 by the same procedure as is given in the book.Another disappointment is that there is no dedicated website for the book itself. Though there are links provided (at the end of the book) to resources at and associated with Adobe. they do not include the Adobe support forum (for scripting) nor any pointers to independent centers of expertise or downloadable material. Just about every current book which is covering the feature set of Photoshop CS6 in a comprehensive way. for either beginners or advanced users. has a companion CD (even DVDs in some cases) and/or an online repository of example work. projects. etc.If you are interested in working to improve your skills with automated workflows in Photoshop. this book can be useful. But it does not cover Adobes newest software. and not so the new initiatives with CS Extensions either. It does not even give the reader (access to) just a few Action samples or Sets which would represent good and current practice in recording a range of multiple use routines or project examples. Overall. as a guide and manual. this book seems best characterized as missing more opportunities than it will assist the reader to create.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Five StarsBy GregLots of great info (not as much on scripting. but a great overall resource).
