This was a delightful read. The dialog in the play is pretty much what they used for the dialog in the movie so it was an easy read. I read it in two sittings.It is the story of two sisters. The youngest (Pheobe Throssel) is in love with a gentleman (Valentine Brown) who leaves for the Napoleonic Wars. 10 year later. upon his return. he finds her warn and unattractive. She is heartbroken and disguises herself and passes herself off as a niece. Not only do they have to fool Mr. Brown but also the nosey neighbors of Quality Street. At first Valentine is taken with her but soon realizes he really does love Pheobe. This is a comedy and well worth the read. I would highly recommend it to all. The movie is only available on DVD through the Warner Archive Collection and stars Katharine Hepburn.
