Translation blues????By Kevin William BarryI know from personal experience that one of the hardest things about self publishing. is not writing a book. its all the editing and formatting you have to do to make your work acceptable for your readers. Reeperbahn Blues by Martin Barkawitz is based in Hamburg. Germany and is obviously an English translation of a German novella. Unfortunately for Her Barkawitz its very poorly translated and the book is littered with phrases like ldquo;...rubbed it in his noserdquo; instead of ldquo;...rubbed his nose in it.rdquo; Also the plot was a little uninspiring and there was precious little intrigue or suspense. but again perhaps that was lost in the translation. As a writer. I can only imagine how hard it must be to write a novella in another language and for that reason alone Id like to give the author five stars.
