In first grade; students are taught to observe; ask questions and record their observations and answers. Science lessons can be taught once to a few times a week and very often; science lessons overlap with math and literacy as teachers use tools such as books; graphs and measurement to help students learn. Since specific science topics learned in a 1st grade class vary across schools; find out which specific science topics your child will be learning and find ways to explore and learn about these topics at home.In order to build science skills; your 1st grader:bull; Explores and experiments with the world around her and with objects provided by the teacher.bull; Learns new facts about a variety of topics including: the human body; ocean and sea life; animals; measurement; electricity and magnetism and sound and matter (the difference between solids; gases and liquids.)bull; Makes observations and records what she sees and learns using graphs; pictures and words.bull; Uses her 5 senses to observe and learn about objects.bull;bull;bull; Experiment with Water: Put different objects in water and see what floats and sinks. Heat water up (under your supervision) and see what happens when water boils. Put cups of water in the freezer and refrigerator and compare what happens. Ask your child what he thinks will happen before you do each of these things and talk about what he learns. Make ice cubes out of water and then watch them melt; focusing on how different matter can change from one thing to another.bull; Observe Your World: Observe things around you -- your pet; a rainstorm; a bug outside or anything else in nature. Together; write down and draw pictures of what you notice. Use this to further your childrsquo;s interest. Ask her what else she wants to learn about a topic; then read books or look up facts online about that topic. Try to find answers to your childrsquo;s questions about an object.bull; Use Your Senses: Help your child use his senses. Blindfold your child and have him taste; touch and smell different objects. Ask him to guess what the object is or talk about how the object tastes; feels and smells. This book really helps your child to know about strange animals of the world .The seller; in exchange for an honest and unbiased review; supplied me with this product for free or discounted price. What you have read and watched is solely my very honest opinion based on my experience with this product.***** IF THIS REVIEW WAS HELPFUL PLEASE HELP OTHERS FIND IT BY CLICKING YES BELOW1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. This Kindle book has some outstanding colorful and high resolution pictures that show up great on the large TV screen in amazingBy AshleyThis was one of a handful of 1st Grade books I reviewed with my four children (ages 3; 4; 6; and 8). For this review; I reviewed this book through a Kindle app on my Android phone and additionally I displayed it for my children on a 65" TV through Chromecast. This Kindle book has some outstanding colorful and high resolution pictures that show up great on the large TV screen in amazing resolution. This was my 6 year olds favorite; but a top pick among my other children.Because they are young; it was good that the book author chose "strange animals" without picking ones that were also scary. Reading the title; I was a little bit worried at first; but there was nothing to worry about through reading. The pictures kept all my children interested and allowed us to talk about the many items included in the picture especially since they love animals and the zoo. While the words were more than my 6 year old could navigate through; the topic and style was right in his wheelhouse. This was a bit harder for my 8 year old to read with some of the complex names of animals. This is definitely a book I would recommend for my kids from 4 - 8 years old.Disclosure: I received each one of these 1st Grade books in Kindle format for free to provide a review.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. I know kids and one thing I know is that they love; loveBy Kelley CStrange Animals of the World: First Grade Science Series takes a peek at some of natures more unusual creatures. Some of the animals featured in this exciting book are the aye-aye; gerenuk (Ive never heard of this guy in my whole life - where have I been?!); and the axolotl.I know kids and one thing I know is that they love; love; love to learn about new and interesting animals and boy does this book have that in spades. I would have assumed that being an educator and almost 40 year old woman that most of these animals would have been things I had seen before; but I would have assumed incorrectly. I had; at best; a vague familiarity with two to three of the amazing creatures in this book.Like other books from the same publishing house this book doesnt skimp on the pictures. The are big and easy to see and really capture the essence of the animals. Any child I know would be beyond delighted to read this book.I received this book at a discount in exchange for an honest review.
