This book demonstrates how and why a majority of US artists must now function as producers of their original works; as well as creators. The author shows how; over the span of 20 years; the USAs cultural policy sector radically redefined US artists practices without cohesively articulating the expectations of artists new role.

Skip this Chrono-illogical MessBy Edgar Z.If you have purchased any other Prince bio; SKIP this one. I just finished and was disappointed to find so much that is incorrect; including the names of releases (and unreleased) For example; one album was titled the Rockhouse Garden NOT Roundhouse. I thought that I was picking up more info as many bios stay away from the post 80s but the information about his work in the 80s was so poorly written (he jumps back and forth and then repeats again which to the average fan would be confusing) that I dont know which information to believe. He mentions the PMRC and how it made him more tame during his Purple Rain tour; however PMRC would not be formed until that following August; the tour ended months before that controversy would happen. Also I WAS THERE during the 80s as a fan all through current material and several tours (7) I feel like he read others material on Prince and made his own conclusions. This book is a mess. Dont waste your time.
