[audiobook] Roses (Mega Square) by Pierre-Joseph Redouteacute;; Claude Antoine Thory at Arts-Photography

Description

This collaborative book from a husband and wife team features twenty-four poems in English and Spanish written in response to the twenty-four paintings in the book. While both the poems and art pieces can stand alone; they complement each other by adding a new perspective to the stories and the people represented in each painting by Reefka. Stevenrsquo;s poetry throughout the collection reveals his mastery of various poetic forms such as the dramatic monologue; prose poem; villanelle; and sestina. He utilizes these forms in a variety of ways when responding to Reefkarsquo;s artwork; and one of the more interesting aspects of this poetry collection is the incredible amount of research that went into it. Through his poetry; Steven brings light to both influential mariachi groups of the past and to the often overlooked women of the mariachi world. The Schneider team; authors of the previously successful poetry-art collection titled Borderlines: Drawing Border Lives / Fronteras: Dibujando las Vidas Fronterizas; once again created a stunning collection of poetry and art.- Jennifer Buentello in The Texas Review0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. poet Steven Schneider and artist Reefka Schneider have created a ...By Customerpoet Steven Schneider and artist Reefka Schneider have created a vital and timely book that celebrates the romance of Mariachi music while exploring the history and socio-political significance of this form of expression. The book consists of twenty-four portraits of Mariachi musicians and accompanying poems; both in English and their Spanish translation by Edna Ochoa; in forms ranging from sestina to villanelle. Each page is filled with the magic and the allure of this musical form that originated in Mexico and today has become internationally beloved; particularly in the United States.--Katherine Hoerth in TUPELO REVIEW
