It introduces and describes scales in an easy way. Once you understand and learn scales. then you understand how chords are constructed and can better improvise. The book also discusses the less familiar but important concept of modes which are scales within scales. I really liked the section on foreign and exotic scales which you can use to give your music a little extra flavor. I believe intermediate and advanced students of guitar will be able to put to practice most of whatrsquo;s in the book immediately (of course with some practice depending on their level) and will get the most out of this book. In addition this book provides information about the fretboard. patterns. intervals and hand positions. I highly recommend this book.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Cant go wrongBy E. A. StaffordThis is a book my husband has had for years...he lost it a while ago so I bought him a replacement. Its not only great for beginning guitarists but also nice to have on hand for "old pros" who like to bone up on basics periodically.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Just what I had been looking for for many yearsBy Lonnie Wayne Harper Jr.I had this book years ago. its one of the greatest music books I had ever owned. Its all about music theory. the scales lessons are endless. the play along and jam over the chords sections really teach you a lot. and its just an all around great book for guitar players. I lost my first copy when my home burnt several years back. I didnt think Id ever replace that book. I looked for many years and finally found an even better copy in mint condition. shipping was fast and accurate. the binding on this one is way better than the paperback version I had the first time. and it was just a great shopping experience and product. Will do business here again with no worries.
