Bob Montana; creator of the "Archie" comic strip and one of Americas greatest cartoonists; always considered himself a true New Englander. Filled with the antics of the rambunctious teenagers of the fictional Riverdale High; Montanas comic strip was based on his high school years in Haverhill; Massachusetts. At the height of his career; he lived as a beloved resident in the quaint; picturesque town of Meredith in the heart of the Lakes Region of New Hampshire. For nearly thirty years; he was considered an extraordinarily respected contributor to the community. Drawing from the Yankee humor he saw around him; Montana deftly included local scenes; events and characters in the puns and pranks of Archies comic-strip life. Join Lakes Region historian Carol Lee Anderson as she takes readers beyond the "Archie" comic strip and tells the story of the remarkable New England life of Bob Montana.

Of course; when the book is among a series titled to precisely describe the readers camera; one might rightfully expected descriptions and illustrations accordingly. But I was pleased to find precise detail; even references to the page number of the instruction booklet that accompanied my camera! I learned helpful information from Ben Longs book explained in easily readable style; information that could not have made it into the instruction booklet. I have consulted the book repeatedly to refresh my understanding of Longs excellent descriptions and instructions. The buyer of this book will not be disappointed; but better yet; will be elated with the reservoir of information available at his fingertips.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. This book is great and explains in plain words how to use each ...By SJBThis book is great and explains in plain words how to use each dial setting on the top right of the camera. Im learning one program at a time until I master it; I no longer use auto and have gotten some great pictures changing the settings. The manual that comes with the camera does tell you how to use the different settings; but this book goes a step further and I live in the north part of the US; so Im anxiously awaiting for spring to come so I can be out every day camera bugging!! I highly recommend it for anyone who wants to take quality pictures.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. the best companion guide to canons instruction manualBy sexy danceri bought this canon eos rebel xs (complete kit) which came of course with an instruction manual. since this is my first digital SLR; reading the manual was an ordeal since i am used to the traditional manually-operated-analog SLR.i have since read the instruction manual for over 5 times now and i am still gradually getting the hang of it. its a good thing that this book "canon eos digital rebel xs/1000D Companion Book" came along written by Ben Long. the book explains a lot of things that the instruction manual did not cover; of course; the manual did not explain why you are pushing certain buttons. but this companion book explains the "WHYs" of certain functions and gives a ton of tips not covered by the instruction manual. the instruction manual is so tiny and so hard to read. get this book and see what i mean. but i suggest you read first the instruction manual before you read this companion book. the book is well written and user friendly. i have scanned the other books pertaining to this camera but this particular edition by ben long is by far the best.
