A fun book with some good suggestionsBy Ellen ClaireThe author of this book is a personal shopper at Bergdorg Goodman in New York. and she was recently profiled in New Yorker magazine. The profile was fascinating so I was curious about this book written in the 90s. It is light and fluffy. a lot of white space on every page but also you can read it in one sitting. for fun. Illustrations are also cute and humorous.I was actually hoping she would give advice on how to organize a closet and yes. she did! And it is good advice. too. She said she cleans her closets out every six months. including everything on the floor and even the shoes. Also there is advice on how to organize your socks and underwear. If you are reading this review and not impressed by the idea of organized socks and underwear. you are nothing like me. -- Also --Betty (the author) advises that many women are not aware our derrieres flatten with age. which will affect the fit of clothes. She says if you have an ample derriere celebrate that while you have it. Im keeping the book on my shelf for fun.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. there are lots of tips on looking good without spending a fortuneBy fangschwayThis is an entertaining and informative book. there are lots of tips on looking good without spending a fortune. Halbreich Empowers Women to Find and Define Style ThemselvesBy Susan MalterBetty Halbreich was the first personal shopper or stylist at Bergdorf Goodman. Well. maybe that is not what her job was called. In any case. she delightfully describes her sense of style. Dont look in magazines. Get into the stores and find the stuff that you love to wear. This is a book that you read and wish that Betty had been your grandmother. She is fun. interesting. and empowering.
