It covers many of his important pieces; analyzing them with regards to Stravinskys life and current events happening at the time of composition. The musical jargon does not interfere with the flow of the text; and the book is appropriate to music students as well as the casual listener. The middle chapters get a little dense (hence 4 stars instead of 5); but the beginning and end of the book are clear and easy to follow. It is also a quick read at under 200 pages; so it covers a lot of important information in a small space. As a musician; it makes me want to read Richard Wagner (Critical Lives) and Claude Debussy (Reaktion Books - Critical Lives); as all books are in the Critical Lives series. Definitely worth the price!
