Simplified Engineering for Architects and Builders (Parker/Ambrose Series of Simplified Design Guides)

[audiobook] Simplified Engineering for Architects and Builders (Parker/Ambrose Series of Simplified Design Guides) by James Ambrose; Patrick Tripeny in Arts-Photography

Description

Audible Empire rethinks the processes and mechanisms of empire and shows how musical practice has been crucial to its spread around the globe. Music is a means of comprehending empire as an audible formation; and the contributors highlight how it has been circulated; consumed; and understood through imperial logics. These fifteen interdisciplinary essays cover large swaths of genre; time; politics; and geography; and include topics such as the affective relationship between jazz and cigarettes in interwar China; the sonic landscape of the U.S.ndash; Mexico border; the critiques of post-9/11 U.S. empire by desi rappers; and the role of tonality in the colonization of Africa. Whether focusing on Argentine tango; theorizing anticolonialist sound; or examining the music industry of postapartheid South Africa; the contributors show how the audible has been a central component in the creation of imperialist notions of reason; modernity; and culture. In doing so; they allow us to hear how empire is both made and challenged. Contributors: Kofi Agawu; Philip V. Bohlman. Michael Denning; Brent Hayes Edwards; Nan Enstad; Andrew Jones; Josh Kun; Morgan Luker; Jairo Moreno; Tejumola Olaniyan; Marc Perry; Ronald Radano; Nitasha Sharma; Micol Seigel; Gavin Steingo; Penny Von Eschen; Amanda Weidman.

Essential guide for photography newbies and advancedBy asmarhAs an "advanced amateur;" Im always looking for ways to increase my skills and my "artistic eye." Ive taken several landscape and portrait photos; and; while technically correct (most of the time); they always seemed to lack that certain "je nes sais quoi" that separates great photos from so-so snapshots.Enter Digital Photography Composition for Dummies. From beginning to end; I learned new ways of composing my photos to be more appealing. Yes; some of the suggestions are extremely basic (find something to "frame" the subject; use leading lines; etc.); but that is to be expected for a "Dummies" book; which; by definitions presupposes you know nothing about the subject. The author takes you on a guided tour of composition that helps you train your photographic eye to find the best composition. The suggestions are extremely helpful and well-organized.Youll love this book and I guarantee youll learn things you didnt know before!0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. great booksBy Customerlove this series of books0 of 0 people found the following review helpful.
